Unicaf University, Zambia Hosts Student Boot Camp to Inspire Personal and Professional Growth

Unicaf University, Zambia hosted a Student Boot Camp on Friday, 25 September, bringing together 70 participants, including students, school leavers and teachers from Sonshine School and Crested Crane Academy, for a morning of learning, discussion and personal development.

The Boot Camp provided participants with practical insights into personal development, entrepreneurship, business development and effective communication, while also introducing them to opportunities for further study at Unicaf University.

The programme opened with remarks from Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr Daniel Mpolomoka, who welcomed participants and emphasised the importance of initiatives that equip young people with the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to navigate their future academic and professional journeys.

Marketing Manager, Ms Valerie Kalinso, followed with an overview of Unicaf University’s academic programmes and scholarship opportunities, highlighting the pathways available to students seeking to advance their education and prepare for future career opportunities.

The first session, Motivation and Personal Development, was facilitated by Dean of Education, Dr Pelekelo Kabundula. The session encouraged participants to cultivate a positive mindset, recognise their potential and take deliberate steps towards achieving their personal and academic goals.

This was followed by an interactive session on Entrepreneurship and Business Development, led by Dean of Business, Dr Mary Mandiringana. She highlighted the role education can play in providing a strong foundation for entrepreneurship and encouraged participants to recognise that there is no age limit to starting a business or pursuing an entrepreneurial idea.

The third session, The Effectiveness of Communication, was facilitated by Dean of Students, Ms Abigail Chalwe, who explored the importance of effective communication in education, professional environments and wider society. Participants were encouraged to develop communication skills that can help them build stronger relationships and navigate future academic and professional settings with confidence.

The sessions generated lively discussions, with participants actively engaging with the facilitators and asking questions throughout the programme. The high level of interaction meant that the three sessions extended beyond their allocated time.

Moderated by Senior Marketing Officer, Ms Nancy Nkonde, the Boot Camp concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to learn, engage and explore new possibilities for their futures.

The participants also had the opportunity to experience the Unicaf University facility first-hand. The attendees expressed their enthusiasm and appreciation for the facility and the quality of education offered by Unicaf University.

The event concluded with a group photo, bringing together participants, facilitators and representatives of Unicaf University to mark the successful completion of the Boot Camp.

Through initiatives such as the Student Boot Camp, Unicaf University continues to create opportunities for young people to learn, question and achieve, while encouraging them to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to make their ambitions a reality.
