Unicaf University Students Champion Practical Learning Through Knowledge Trade & Time Capsule Event
Unicaf University recently hosted the Student-Led Knowledge Trade & Time Capsule Event on its Zambia campus, bringing together students and staff for an interactive learning experience focused on personal development, collaboration, and real-world readiness.
Held under the theme “Beyond the Classroom: Building Practical Competence for the Modern World,” the event responded to the growing demand for educational experiences that extend beyond traditional academic instruction. The initiative welcomed many participants, with additional students joining online, reflecting strong engagement across both in-person and virtual formats.
Originally launched by students in 2025, the Knowledge Trade & Time Capsule initiative serves as a structured yet flexible platform for peer-to-peer learning, critical reflection, and future-oriented goal-setting. The 2026 edition further strengthened student ownership of learning conversations while introducing creative engagement through a Mosaic Art session, encouraging inclusive participation and deeper reflection on how education equips learners for real-world challenges.
The session was facilitated by Ms Humairaa Khan, a fourth-year Business Administration student, who guided participants through knowledge-sharing discussions, reflective exercises, and the Time Capsule activity. Her leadership ensured a smooth flow of dialogue and sustained engagement throughout the programme.
Key outcomes of the event included strengthened peer-to-peer learning, enhanced collaboration and problem-solving skills, and meaningful reflection on personal growth. Participants revisited goals set during the 2025 Time Capsule exercise and developed new, realistic, and purposeful goals for 2026, reinforcing long-term accountability and self-directed development.
Engagement levels remained consistently high, particularly during the Time Capsule reflection and open discussion segments. The student-led approach fostered open dialogue, authentic participation, and a strong sense of shared ownership over the learning process.
The successful implementation of the Student-Led Knowledge Trade & Time Capsule Event aligns closely with Unicaf University’s commitment to holistic student development. The initiative continues to demonstrate strong value as a student-driven engagement model that complements academic learning and empowers students to take an active role in shaping their personal and professional growth.
As the initiative continues, it is expected to contribute to a more reflective, collaborative, and empowered student community – one equipped with the practical competencies needed to navigate an increasingly complex modern world.
