Unicaf University Hosts Public Speaking Programme
Unicaf University in Zambia welcomed more than 180 secondary school learners to its campus for an engaging Public Speaking Training Programme designed to develop communication skills, build confidence, and inspire the next generation of leaders.
The event brought together 186 learners from Soneshine School, Crested Crane Academy, and International Maarif Schools, offering them an opportunity to strengthen their public speaking abilities while experiencing the University’s vibrant academic environment firsthand.
The training was facilitated by Dr Mary Mandiringana, Dean of the School of Business, who led an interactive and practical session focused on effective communication, presentation techniques, and the confidence required to speak before an audience. Throughout the programme, learners were encouraged to develop skills that will support both their academic success and future professional aspirations.
Members of the Unicaf University team, including Dr Daniel Mpolomoka, Miss Abigail Chalwe, Miss Elinai, and representatives from the University’s Marketing Department, also contributed to the day’s activities, providing participants with insights into university life and the opportunities available through higher education.
One of the highlights of the programme was a series of presentations delivered by current Unicaf University students, who shared their personal educational journeys and experiences studying at the University. Their testimonials resonated strongly with the visiting learners, offering authentic perspectives on the benefits of pursuing higher education and demonstrating how confidence and determination can help unlock future opportunities.
Beyond developing practical communication skills, the event also introduced learners to the University’s learning environment, encouraging meaningful engagement between students, educators, and the wider school community. By interacting with academic staff and current students, participants gained valuable exposure to university life while exploring the importance of leadership, self-expression, and lifelong learning.
The Public Speaking Training Programme successfully achieved its objectives of promoting skills development, providing institutional exposure, and strengthening relationships with local schools. The enthusiastic participation of more than 180 learners, combined with the high quality of facilitation provided by Dr Mary Mandiringana and the wider Unicaf University team, contributed to the programme’s overall success.
As part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement and educational excellence, Unicaf University continues to create opportunities that empower young people with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to succeed in higher education and beyond.
